How to create a glittered embellishment in StoryBook Creator

A Special thanks to Debra Benbow for this great idea!

Add the item to be "glitterized" to your project. While clicked on the item, click on the "Format" tab. Next, click on "Surfaces". Choose the very first surface option, "Block". Slide the "Amplification" selector all the way to the right, to number 10. Leave the "Scale" selector at number 1. Click "Accept".

Repeat the above process again. In most cases, this will yield you a bling-ish enough glitter finish. If you would like more, do it again.

This flower is from the Delight Embellishment kit and the jewel if from Diva Bling Embellishments.

A quick and easy way to add digital freebies to StoryBook Creator Plus

A Special thanks to Debra Benbow for this great tip!

I learn something new everyday! Here is a quick way to add freebies to your embellishments.

1. First, go to my website, Project Center, Digital, Digital Freebies. Find the freebie you want and click on it to open a larger view.

2. Next, you will open the Content .Manager in StoryBook Creator and click on the file you have set up for your own embellishments.

3. Drag the freebie over to your embellishment tray, and drop it in.

4. You now have a new free embellishment! Be sure to check the project center often. New freebies are added almost every day!

Memory Manager Preserves Metadata

From: Lea Ward
Date: January 30, 2010

Hello Mark, This is very interesting information. I read some more on the Library of Congress website and actually read some on metadata, I hope you will explain a little more about this and how our Memory Manager Software is using metadata and how that can be a selling point. If I were a professional photographer for instance, would storing digital images on MM 3.0 and adding their copyright info. or their licensing rights on each photo, protect those images once distributed on disc or through e-mail? Thanks, CM Consultant, Lea Ward
metadata
noun
data about data; "a library catalog is metadata because it describes publications"

WordNet® 3.0, © 2006 by Princeton University.
Metadata is the information about a photo. It may tell you when it was take, where it was taken, and who is in the photo. It may include star ratings and complete journaling details. In Memory Manager, these details are stored as part of the image file, ensuring that this information is not lost if the files are emailed or used for other projects. Many other programs store this information in a separate file where it may be lost over time. Metadata may also include copyright and digital rights management information, although a complete discussion of the legal implications is outside the scope of this blog.

Think about how valuable an old shoe box of unlabeled photos would be with all this information. Nobody would wonder who is in a photo or when it was taken. Memory Manager prevents this scenario from happening with digital photos.

For more technical information on metadata, check out the Metadata Working Group
and the Guidelines for Handling Image Metadata. These are the guidelines that Memory Manager 3.0 follows.

Discover matting with edges!

What would be better way to say Happy Valentine’s Day to that special someone in your life than a personalized page print, and one with an edged mat!!

To start creating an edged mat, click on the Insert ribbon and add an Empty Frame. You will then want to size it appropriately. If you need the frame to be a different shape, right click on the frame and choose Aspect Ratio and unlock it; this will allow you to resize the frame to your desired shape and size.

Once the frame is sized, go to your Photos ribbon and drag a random photo to the frame to add it to the page. Next, make sure the photo is selected and click on the Format Photos ribbon. You can then click on the Select option and choose either edges or cutouts under the Commercial folder, and select the desired edge/cutout.

When the edge has been applied to the photo, you can now either fill the frame with a solid color under the Cut and Fill ribbon, or a piece of paper under the Content ribbon, which you can do by right-clicking on the piece of paper you wish and select Fill Selected Shape.

Now, add the pictures you wish to add to the page, and WHALA, you now have a customized page print with an edged mat for that special someone. Hope you all have fun creating your extraordinary pages, and have a very Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
